Ryan Cass

The Boeing Company

Ryan currently works at The Boeing Company as an Industrial Engineering Project Leader supporting the 787 Dreamliner Program.  While he possess plenty of passion for aerospace, his ultimate passion resides in leadership development – especially with youth. Ryan believes he would not be where he is today if it were not for the amazing mentors that he has been privileged to have in his life. Ryan shared that, “The beauty of mentoring relationships is that they can last a lifetime and change your life. To this day, I still meet with two of my mentors from college who continue to positively influence my life and make me a better person.” Ryan believes everyone should have someone that they can go to for anything, no questions asked. The fact of the matter is that is not the case right now, especially for our youth, and it’s a personal mission of Ryan’s to help change this. He has diligently served as a Big Brother with BBBSL for almost three years and says that, “My eyes have been opened by my little brother, Jayshawn, who has not always had that somebody to call on.” Ryan envisions a future where all of our youth have at least one person who has their back. He believes that, “The best gift you can give is to give back, and by regularly sharing this message in our community, we will find more people to serve our youth.”

Ryan knows that the benefit of mentoring goes beyond what most of us realize. He shared that, “Changing the world starts with being there for somebody, because they will in turn be there for someone else and positively influence them. Over the past three years with Jayshawn, I’ve seen firsthand that you truly can make somebody’s life extraordinary through ordinary experiences. Our youth deserve this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to serve Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry to make this happen.”

In his role as an attorney and a citizen Julian serves the community because he believes that each generation should impart wisdom on the next to make our communities a better place for those who are oppressed. Julian’s hope for youth in the community is for them to be provided the same opportunities given to those in positions of privilege and to have their lives valued like everyone else, which is why he currently serves as a Big Brother to his Little Brother, Zion. The youth in our communities deserve an advocate that will fight for them and Julian has the skills and abilities to make their voices heard.
